The announcement was made in July (and I missed it because they actually typed in Gugu’s full name) but the actual ceremony is happening in a few weeks according to Amma Asante (Belle’s director who will also be honoured).

I was able to track down another one of Gugu’s old project but sadly it isn’t in the best quality. Bad Girls (2006) was set in the fictional women’s prison of Larkhall, and features a mixture of serious and light storylines focusing on the prisoners and staff of G Wing. Gugu guest starred in 2 episodes as Fidelity, the bride to be of one of the main character’s son.

I’ve updated the gallery with promotional photos and screencaptures of Gugu’s 2008 mini series Bonekickers.

Set against the backdrop of Bath, a city steeped in 3,000 years of history, Gillian and her team – Dr Ben Ergha (forensic, objective), Professor Gregory Parton (encyclopaedic but terminally louche) and eager young post-grad intern Viv Davis – are brought in under a variety of imperatives to extract bodies, books, weapons and all manner of artefacts which lead them into an investigation of the past that will unlock dangers and mysteries in the present.

I’ve been able to locate, what I think is Gugu’s first project, at least according to her IMDB. Gugu guest starred on Holby City’s 7th season as a pregnant lady called Colette Hill. You can watch the episode (Thanks tumblr)and check out the screencaptures below.

I’ve updated the gallery with what a lot consider Gugu’s first big break when she guest starred in Doctor Who in 2007 as Tish Jones, the sister of The Doctor’s companion then; Martha Jones. I’ve updated the gallery with stills, screencaptures and the promotional picture of her appearance, enjoy!
